A patched member of the Head Hunters wanted in relation to the attack of a truck driver has contacted the Herald offering to provide a "better photo" than the police mugshot.
Counties Manukau Police Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin McNaughton said Winiata Pihu Tipene had four warrants for his arrest in relation to the incident in Auckland last Friday night for charges including assault and wilful damage.
Tipene is considered to be dangerous and should not be approached.
However, Tipene has this evening contacted the Herald through Facebook offering a better photo and claiming the accusations were false.
McNaughton said police were aware of social media commentary that portrayed the incident on Industry Rd in Penrose as being a result of serious tension between boy racers and truck drivers.
