An alleged drunk driver came close to landing in the drink themselves after losing control of their vehicle which landed nose first in Hamilton Lake.
Waikato police said they were called to the scene, near the playground side of the popular family spot, during the early hours of this morning.
Officers arrived to find the wheels and nose of the light coloured sedan in the lake.

To get the vehicle in its predicament, it's most likely travelled about 100m from a car park, across a section of grass and walkway before coming close to a very large palm tree.
Somehow the vehicle has managed to come to a stop, despite the front half landing in the water.
