Three cars submerged in Manukau Harbour

Three drivers found a watery park for the night - the shallows of Manukau Harbour.

A Herald reader photographed three cars submerged in the harbour near Blockhouse Bay last night.

A police spokeswoman said they were called about a car 500 metres from the shore at Blockhouse Bay yesterday afternoon.

No one was in the car so the matter was passed to the harbourmaster.

Police weren't aware of any more vehicles submerged.

An Auckland Transport spokesman said the harbourmaster would assess the cars this morning.

If the cars weren't stolen, it was up to their owners and insurance companies to have them removed.
