Some Christchurch residents could be hit with a double-barrelled rates increase.
The Christchurch City Council and QV have revalued 165,000 residential, commercial and rural properties for the first time in six years.
On average, residential property values jumped close to 20 per cent while commercial and rural went up almost ten per cent.
Historic Places Aotearoa president Anna Crighton says she pays rates on two properties after having to vacate her home in the February 2011 earthquake.
"I'm hoping that the council won't look at it as one size fits all; that they will make allowances and have exceptions.
