The mother of Sophie Elliott, the woman murdered by Clayton Weatherston in 2008, has launched a charity to help girls recognise abusive partners.
Lesley Elliott says as a spokeswoman for the Sophie Elliott Foundation, she will visit any schools which invite her to talk about the issue to year 12 and 13 students.
She says both she and her daughter never noticed the signs while Sophie was in a relationship with Weatherston.
"The classic signs of abuse are around physical and there wasn't that much of that in the relationship she had, but the worse thing of course is the psychological - the threats, the manipulation and the name calling - the power and control stuff."
Weatherston was sentenced to life imprisonment with a 18 years non parole period for Ms Elliott's murder.
