The mystery $4 million Lotto winner has claimed her prize.
The North Shore woman, who has not been named, was waiting at Auckland Airport at the weekend for a flight to Wellington to go to a wedding, when she decided to buy a lottery ticket at the Whitcoulls there as it was considered a lucky store.
She checked all her old tickets too... and that's when she found out she had won the $4 million unclaimed prize from November 29, NZ Lotteries chief executive Todd McLeay said today.
The woman's husband was already in Wellington, and she worried he might have a heart attack if she told him over the phone so kept it a secret until her arrival in Wellington.
The couple spent the weekend as planned, enjoying a wedding with friends and family, then went to the NZ Lotteries' Wellington office today to claim their life changing prize, Mr McLeay said.
