Netballer escapes injury in car collision

Young Hawkes Bay netball star Rebecca Kupa is recovering at home after her car rolled in a collision with another car.

The 20-year-old New Zealand under-21 representative was driving to training with the Western Flyers national league squad in Palmerston North on Tuesday afternoon when she was hit by an oncoming car.

She managed to extricate herself from the wreckage and was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected serious leg injury, but was discharged with only a few bumps and scratches, and a calf strain.
