A large shed fire in Napier is now understood to be under control.
It's not yet known how badly damaged the property was or whether there were any injuries.
A witness earlier said the "huge" blaze in Howard Rd, Taradale, could be seen from kilometres away.
Neighbour Alexandra Morgan was watching television when her aunty screamed out "fire fire".
Ms Morgan ran outside and all she could see was orange flames and "smoke blacker than a puffer jacket" coming from the Howard Road address.
"It was a massive black cloud of smoke I'm surprised the whole of Napier hasn't seen it."
She rang 111 and it is believed the fire crews were able to stop the fire in the shed from reaching the home on the property.
Another woman who lived next door said she could hear popping and banging sounds before seeing huge orange flames.
"The whole shed was basically orange and then there was a cloud of black smoke, it was pretty scary."
It is believed that a woman and her daughter are the ones that live in the property but no one was reported injured.
