Man jailed for 12 years for rape

A Napier man who raped a woman and then later tried to coerce her into giving a false statement has been jailed for 12 years.

Dennis Gregory Prouse, 50, denied charges of rape, burglary, assault with a knife, assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice when he was tried in Napier District Court last month, but was found guilty by a jury, Hawke's Bay Today reported.

He appeared for sentence before Judge Geoff Rea yesterday.
