A man has appeared in court accused of tying up a woman and raping her while she was recuperating from surgery.
Boru Xu, 28, came before Auckland District Court today facing 20 sex and violence charges spanning less than two months in 2013.
The Chinese-born man is accused of nine counts of rape, most of which are alleged to have occurred over two days in October.
Court documents show the man is also accused of kidnap during that period, when police say he "tied her to his desk chair".
The charge sheets also state the victim was recovering from breast augmentation surgery at the time.
