Crime scene: Woman attacked near Meadowbank shops

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the attempted abduction of a young woman at the intersection of Remuera Rd and McFarland St about midnight last Saturday.

A man grabbed the woman and tried to drag her into a driveway next to the Barfoot & Thompson real estate office near the Meadowbank shopping centre.

The offender was a Pakeha, 1.78m (5ft 10in), about 25, slim, clean-shaven and with short hair. He wore a black leather jacket, T-shirt, black jeans, black shoes and a cap.

A green taxi heading east towards St Johns at the time slowed as it passed the site of the attack, and police would like to speak to the driver.
