A video game parlour security guard was stabbed to death in south Auckland last night as he tried to evict two people from the premises.
A fight broke out at the Ultra Zone parlour in Lakewood Court, Manukau about 11pm as the 51-year-old guard tried to remove the couple, Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Lendrum, from Counties Manukau police, said today.
"A knife was pulled and the security guard was stabbed in the chest area by one of those he was trying to evict."
The guard later died in hospital from his injuries.
One person in a group who tried to help the guard, who lived close by in Manurewa, was also stabbed and taken to hospital. He had surgery this morning and was in a stable condition in hospital.
Another man was taken to hospital but suffered only minor injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Lendrum appealed for anyone who was in the vicinity of the Lakewood Court area around 11pm to contact police.
"We believe there were a number of people in the area, as there are restaurants, a service station and the Village 8 movie complex situated near the video parlour."
Police have recovered a knife from the scene and are talking to two people in relation to the incident.
