When police were called to the house, where about 20 teenagers were drinking, at 11.10pm, Mr Rosillo's friends were still trying to save his life..
Dillon Meagher, 17, who did a CPR course last month, said he tried desperately to revive his friend and refused to accept it when he died in the middle of the road.
Police had to pull the distraught teenager off the lifeless body and put him in handcuffs to get him under control.
"I didn't give up until the cop told me it was over," Mr Meagher said.
"The cop ripped me off [Warren]. The paramedics took one look at him and put a sheet over him.
"I tried to get back in there but the cops dragged me off and put me in handcuffs. I was just screaming at the top of my lungs." Friends said Mr Rosillo had been speaking to the ex-girlfriend of the man who was arrested shortly before he was attacked.
Mr Rosillo's post mortem is expected to take place this morning.
Mr Rosillo moved to New Zealand from the Philippines when he was 13 and he worked for Diesel Rescue in East Tamaki.
Last night, more than 500 people had "liked" the Facebook group "RIP Warren Rosillo" which had been set up in his memory.
