She has returned to the family's home where she lives with her husband and two young daughters. Small ramps have been erected over stairs leading into the house.
Her husband, Sandeep Patel, would not comment on the charges being laid or his wife's condition.
"My wife is really sensitive about what happened and we'd like to keep it private," he said.
The 58-year-old truck driver has been charged with careless or inconsiderate vehicle operation causing injury.
Passersby told how they came to Patel's aid and promised her she wouldn't die.
"I heard screaming and then I heard 'help, help, help'," a woman said.
"We ran over and there was a girl, she was up against the wall and her leg was practically severed."
They stayed with her until paramedics arrived, comforting her and praising her courage.
"She was crying out for her babies, and was crying out, 'I'm dying, I'm dying'.
"And my sister said to her, 'No, you're not dying, sweetheart, you're in shock'," the woman said.
Hell Pizza owner Edward Chen reported hearing a loud bang, followed by a woman screaming for help.
"When I went there to have a look I saw three or four people around the lady. Her legs were totally broken."
Police will not release the truck driver's name ahead of his next appearance in Auckland District Court next month.
The CourierPost contractor was stood down after the accident.
At the time, Express Couriers Limited said the driver was "extremely distressed".
