Most Kiwis can expect a sunny day today, but the remains of Cyclone June from New Caledonia could put a dampener on things tomorrow.
WeatherWatch head analyst Philip Duncan expected a mostly sunny day in Auckland today with a high of 24°C. But cloud and strong northerlies could appear this
evening as the tail of the cyclone passed through.
The Wellington region would also start off dry but there was a chance of some evening rain, Duncan said.
MetService predicted Cyclone June could strengthen slightly this weekend as it passed just west of New Caledonia, but would most likely weaken and decay as it moved across the cooler waters to the north of New Zealand by early next week.
The Fijian Meteorological Service yesterday said the cyclone conditions had decreased over the previous 12 hours as it headed southeast of the Pacific nation, though there was still a chance of some intensification as it headed towards New Zealand.
