New Zealand may just have found Taika Waititi's next Boy in a heartwarming and hilarious video that has gone viral.
The video created by Kimi Ora Community School in Hastings, for a competition to win a visit from Richie McCaw, mimics the opening of the award-winning Kiwi film with its Poi E soundtrack and narration from a charming lead actor.
"Oh kia ora, didn't see you there. If I knew you were filming today I would've brung my flash shoes," he starts.
It continues with the young boy walking around his school while giving hilarious reasons why the former All Blacks captain should make a trip to Hastings.
"Richie, if you come to our school you can have one of our $1…lunches but remember you have to pay though. And if you come on burger day its $2," he says.
The video ended with the boy pretending to be an air traffic controller guiding McCaw's helicopter in to land on the school field.
Kimi Ora Community School's video has racked up 74,000 views, more than 2000 shares and hundreds of comments since it was shared on Facebook this week.
"Really don't think anyone can beat this video!! Boy 2.0," one person said.
The school has tagged Taika Waititi in the comments.
The video was made as an entry for a competition run by Fonterra for its Milk for Schools programme.
It would see four schools win a helicopter milk run by McCaw.
Nominations can be made until March 19 at Fonterra.com.
