LONDON - The Verve has reformed eight years after their acrimonious split, lead singer Richard Ashcroft said in a statement on his website.
"The Verve -- Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury -- were back recording together in a London studio last week," the statement
said.
"After a summer break they will return to the studio to complete their next album."
Ashcroft also said the band, known for hits including Bitter Sweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work, planned six gigs in November in Glasgow, Blackpool and London.
The band was formed in the northern town of Wigan in 1990, and released its debut album A Storm in Heaven three years later. Its biggest hits appeared on Urban Hymns in 1997.
It broke up in 1999 after guitarist McCabe pulled out of some tour dates in Europe and the United States.
