Golfing giant Tiger Woods is all set to play in New Zealand, according to a report in today's Evening Post newspaper.
Merchant bankers FR Partners, formerly Fay Richwhite are reported to have put up the $NZ4-5 million playing fee necessary to secure Woods who this month became the only golfer in modern era to hold all four components of the slam – Masters, US Open, British Open and PGA championship – at the same time.
Sources spoken to by the newspaper said, barring a change of heart by the 25-year-old, Woods will play the New Zealand Open at Paraparumu, north of Wellington in January next year.
The newspaper's sources also confirmed telecommunications company Telstra Saturn as naming rights sponsor.
