Google billionaire's luxury superyacht in Auckland for work

Luxury superyacht Senses owned by Google co-founder Larry Page is back in Auckland.

The 59m adventure yacht is believed to be undergoing more work following a major refit in the city last summer.

Page, who cruised with guests before the work last season, is not in town. It is not known whether he will return this time.

Senses was owned by New Zealand businessman Sir Douglas Myers before he sold it to billionaire Larry Page.

The steel-hulled vessel is equipped with a helipad - and helicopter - a Jacuzzi, gymnasium, sauna and steam room.

When it was sold four years ago it was listed for $60.5 million.

Superyachts.com says Senses can accommodate 12 guests in one master's suite, two double staterooms and two twin cabins, as well as the option to convert the gym into an additional twin accommodation with en-suite bathroom.

The website says Senses' on board range of toys which include four jet skis, six full sets of dive gear, a dive compressor, water skis and tows, snorkelling gear and three kayaks.

The tender collection includes a 12m Nelson enclosed launch, a 7m semi-rigid inflatable rigid hull inflatable, 8m classic L Francis Herreshoff sloop, a 5m Hobie wave cat and a 7m Grady fishing boat. Systems include satellite television, zero-speed stabilisers, Satcom and cellular communications, internet access and a multi-large screen projector.

It has 13 crew.

Close to 20 local companies are providing services for Senses which is having more engineering systems work done.

Senses is capable of going to more far flung and rugged places than other superyachts but small compared to the largest vessels owned by the mega rich.

The biggest to call here, Serene, owned by a Russian vodka baron, was 134m and worth more than $400m.
