Brisbane pop duo Savage Garden have split after selling 20 million records worldwide.
Singer Darren Hayes announced the split, ending months of speculation.
Hayes is about to launch a solo career.
He said Daniel Jones was so sick of being in the group that he almost scrapped the release of theirmillion-selling second album, Affirmation, at the 11th hour.
"The travelling was getting him down," Hayes said.
"I always thought we'd do three or four albums, then maybe I'd go solo, but it's just been the two albums.
"It wasn't that I left the band, the band left me."
