'Rings' composer wins Grammy Award

Composer Howard Shore has won a Grammy for his work on the second film of Peter Jackson's epic trilogy The Lord of the Rings.

Shore won the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack Album For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media for his work on The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers.

Others nominated in the category were: John Williams (Catch Me If You Can), John Williams (Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets), Philip Glass (The Hours) and Randy Newman (Seabiscuit).

Shore has previously been honoured for his work on the Rings films with an Oscar for Original Score for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001 and two Golden Globes for Best Dramatic score and Best Original Song for 'Into the West' from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King this year.

The Grammy award was presented during the nontelevised portion of the ceremony in Los Angeles today.
