A judge has further remanded in custody the six teenagers charged with murdering pizza delivery driver Michael Choy.
In the Youth Court at Papakura yesterday, Judge David Harvey heard lawyers make individual bail applications for four of the six teenagers charged with murdering Mr Choy and two of the three people accused of related offences.
Judge Harvey turned down each application, saying that he had no confidence that the accused would not try to breach their bail conditions and that their families did not have the necessary authority to stop them.
All nine have been remanded until October 19, except for one of the boys charged with murder, who will appear next Friday, when an application for his bail will be heard.
The six accused of murder are a 12-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, two boys aged 15, one boy aged 16, and a 17-year-old woman, Whatarangi Rawiri, of Papakura.
Police allege the six murdered Mr Choy, who they say was robbed and assaulted with a softball bat after he was sent to a Papakura address to deliver food.
Because the five male murder-accused are aged between 12 and 16, their identities are protected by the Youth Court.
Lawyers did not apply for bail for the 12-year-old boy or a 15-year-old boy charged with conspiracy.
Two 20-year-old women, Whatarangi Rawiri's sister, Casie Kaaro Rawiri, and Lisa Marie Waikato, both of Papakura, are charged with robbing Mr Choy.
Family groups were at the hearings.
