US President-elect Donald Trump will name Exxon Mobil Corp Chief Executive Officer Rex Tillerson as his choice for secretary of state, Fox News reports, citing unnamed sources.
Trump said on Twitter he would name his pick tomorrow, but offered no further information. In television interviews, senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said Tillerson was a "leading candidate" for the top diplomat job.
Tillerson faces a struggle getting confirmed by US senators concerned about his close ties to Russia.
Trump also cancelled the only news conference he has scheduled since his election, continuing to communicate with the public via Twitter and carefully curated, one-on-one interviews.
Trump aides said that an announcement planned for Friday on the future of Trump's business empire had been rescheduled to January.
