The jury is out in the Emily Longley murder case.

Elliot Turner is accused of murdering the 17-year-old New Zealander a year ago in the south of England.

He has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice but not guilty to the charge of murder.

The 20-year-old has been on trial at the Winchester Crown Court for over two weeks.

TVNZ reporter Garth Bray says the jury had deliberated for exactly three hours so far before being dismissed for the weekend.

He said the judge told them to try and not think about the case over the weekend and not to talk to anyone about it.

The jury is due back in court to continue deliberations on Monday.
