A series of letters written by British gangster Ronnie Kray and charting his decline into madness are to be auctioned on July 31.
The 23 signed letters were written by Kray between September and December 1993 and illustrate his mental decline in a period during which he suffered a nervous breakdown.
SchizophrenicKray wrote the letters to Robin McGibbon, a friend of the family and biographer of Ronnie's brother Charlie. They are signed Your friend, Ron and With love, Ron.
They were written in his distinctive, barely legible scrawl and run to 40 pages of Kray's own personally headed A4 notepaper.
Kray died of a heart attack in the high-security wing of Broadmoor, a secure mental hospital, in 1995, aged 61.
