Kasparov vs computer ends in draw

Garry Kasparov, the world's top-ranked chess master, played to a draw against computer program X3D Fritz in the first of a four-game series.

The Russian grandmaster played wearing virtual-reality glasses, calling out his moves, which were then posted on a virtual board.

Dubbed Man v Machine, the match involved Kasparov voice-activating the chess pieces and using a joystick to rotate the virtual board.
