Several major international schools in Jakarta were closed yesterday pending a response to a request for stepped-up government security measures.
Since last month's Bali bomb attacks that killed nearly 200 people, several embassies have issued warnings about security threats in Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia.
The US Embassy announced it had "received credible information about possible targeting of schools in Jakarta associated with Western interests".
Schools closed yesterday included the Jakarta, Australian and British International schools.
