MADRID - Five young Britons, some drunk or under the influence of drugs, have fallen to their deaths from hotel balconies on the Spanish holiday island of Ibiza so far this year, newspaper El Pais' website reported today.
Some hotels have added extra height to their balconies to stop groggy tourists toppling over, but the main cause of the deaths is drink and drugs, El Pais said, quoting local officials.
Some of the accidents came after holidaymakers fell over backwards after sitting on balconies, while others were trying to climb from one hotel room to another.
