Fischer to be deported from Japan

Japan has decided to deport former world chess champion Bobby Fischer, who is wanted in the United States for defying sanctions on Yugoslavia.

An immigration official said a person would normally be deported to his home country but declined to give details on Fischer.

The eccentric chess grandmaster played a match in Yugoslavia in 1992 while economic sanctions were in place against the country.
