Eight killed in South African air crashes

JOHANNESBURG - Eight people were killed in two aircraft accidents in South Africa yesterday.

Six people died when their helicopter crashed into a gorge in a mountain in misty weather in Mpumalanga province.

In the second accident, a pilot and passenger were killed instantly when their Sukhoi SU-29 aerobatic aircraft crashed into a mountain.

Mountaineers were called in to help retrieve the bodies at both crash scenes.
