Fijian twin girls joined at the stomach and chest died yesterday afternoon.
The Fijilive website said the girls had surgery and were on artificial respiration before they died.
The father, Vimlesh Singh, a driver, had been trying to raise funds for the twins to be separated in Australia or New
Zealand.
On Monday, 24-year-old Sharin Lata gave birth to the conjoined twins by caesarean section at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.
Mr Singh this week told the Fiji Times the twins were their first babies.
The twins had surgery to their stomach wall on Tuesday as part of their internal organs were outside their bodies.
Doctors in Fiji had discussed the possible treatment of the twin girls with Melbourne medical experts after New Zealand indicated that it could not afford to help.
