Australian paedophile gets life

A man dubbed Australia's worst paedophile was jailed yesterday for life, with no prospect of parole, and police said he might have preyed on more than 250 young girls.

Geoffrey Robert Dobbs, 48, was given an indefinite sentence for molesting or videoing 62 girls aged from 12 months to 15 years over a 30-year period.

Dobbs, sentenced in the Brisbane District Court, had pleaded guilty to 116 charges including carnal knowledge of a child under 12, maintaining a sexual relationship, indecent dealing and recording indecent visual images between 1972 and 1999.
