Australian doctors were selling Amway rather than practising medicine because there was so little incentive for GPs, the Australian Medical Association said yesterday.
AMA vice-president Dr Trevor Mudge told reporters the Australian Budget offered little to address the issue of a shortage of GPS.
"General practice has become so undercapitalised, so full of red tape, we have to make conditions more attractive. GPs are doing all sorts of other things, working for divisions, they are selling Amway, one even became a health minister."
