Police have arrested one of Britain's most notorious animal rights militants in connection with the theft of an 82-year-old woman's remains from her grave.
John Curtin, 41, was jailed in 1986 for desecrating the grave of the Duke of Beaufort during an anti-hunting protest and has served three other prison sentences for violent disorder and attacks on property.
He was taken into custody yesterday during a dawn raid at his home in Coventry. A second man, 34, also believed to be a prominent animal rights activist, was arrested in Wolverhampton.
