12-year-old jumps to death in Hong Kong

A primary school pupil jumped to her death from her highrise home in Hong Kong on the eve of her 12th birthday.

Chiang Man-yee left a note saying she was under intense pressure to study with no time allowed to play or go out, before leaping out of her 23rd-floor apartment in Tuen Mun in western Kowloon yesterday.

Chiang was the 12th student to kill herself this academic year in Hong Kong. Fourteen students committed suicide in the last school year and 19 students in 2000-2001.
