Flying from Bristol to Amsterdam with EasyJet

Donna McIntyre flies Bristol to Amsterdam aboard EasyJet Ezy6161.

The plane: An Airbus A319.

Class: Economy.

Flight: We left at right on time at 12.55pm after waiting to join the queue at takeoff, ditto landing.

Price: This is one of the original European low-cost carriers, and cheapest one-way fares start at about $90.

My seat: 21E

Fellow passengers: Friday afternoon so a few lads' and hens' groups all heading for a weekend of god knows what in Amsterdam. Sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll most likely.

Those groups were vocal, other passengers a bit more discreet.

Entertainment: Watching the other punters, inflight mag, quite a noisy flight with a high level of excitement.

The service: Polite and pleasant, especially considering all the alcohol they had to serve the boys' weekend-away groups. Short flight meant they didn't get too rowdy.

Food and drink: Whatever you choose to buy. Coffee from £2.50 (NZ$4.80), 330ml Heineken for £4.50.

Toilets: Functioning and compact. Grey and orange EasyJet livery.

Luggage: Paid extra for 20kg bag checked in between us. Carry-on bag size limit 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels but no weight limit as long as you can lift it up to the overhead locker. Hostesses had to ask some people with backpacks to put them under seats as there was not enough room for all the carry-on luggage hogging the locker space.

The airport experience: We were early so we were lucky to experience a quick self-check-in and baggage drop. Had a coffee and croissant to say goodbye to our UK-based daughter. Time to browse the duty-free shops at Bristol airport and then walked the long walk to gate 14.

Would I fly again? Yes, if you book early enough, it's a cheap connection.
