As the qualified therapist runs this over a client's skin in specific patterns, the pressure of the needles manipulates the body into producing extra collagen as a reaction to the process.
While the thought of having row upon row of needles rolled over your face could make you feel a bit unsure, Leigh says the procedure is "really painless".
She adds that at the start of the appointment, the therapist applies a topical anaesthetic cream which takes away the "sting" of the needles.
Leigh says the immediate temporary effect is to give a client significantly plumper looking skin, diminishing any lines.
"So if you have a special event to go to, booking yourself an MTS facial the day before means that you will certainly look your best."
While the initial "plumping" effect is temporary, the long term benefit of the treatment is the way in which it encourages the skin to produce new collagen and generate new cells.
This means it can "significantly improve" the appearance of scars, wrinkles, acne, sun damaged skin and other signs of ageing.
"I like the fact that it isn't invasive like a surgical procedure," says Nina, one of Leigh's clients.
"I can have a session done and instantly see the results, plus the effects are long lasting."
Leigh says that one of the benefits Nina will be noticing is that her skin will continue producing more collagen for weeks after the initial treatment.
"Which is why we recommend a course of six facials over a six-month period, so we can build on the progress each time," Leigh says.
Another client, Sharon, says the fact she purchases her own roller at the salon reassures her that the therapy is safe and hygienic.
"Everyone has their own roller sterilised after each use and safely stored at the spa, so it is only used on me and the therapists all wear gloves and sterilise everything each time," she says.
Leigh adds that as part of the therapy treatment they use the rollers on their clients' hands.
"Most people see their hands more than they see their face, so it is an immediate change that they see," she says, adding that in the lead-up to Christmas she has sold plenty of vouchers for the treatment.
"The gift of younger looking hands and face is certainly on many a wish list I am sure," Leigh says.
