Lawnmower racing is back on the tracks in Lepperton this month.
Competitors from ride-on lawnmower clubs in the Bay of Plenty and Fielding are coming to Lepperton school to race against members of the newly-formed Taranaki club on Saturday, March 21.
This event is now into its third year and is growing in popularity as is the sport nationwide. Whilst all mowers started their lives as a household lawnmower, the similarity ends there. They maintain lawnmower engines but have been modified to get the most speed out of them as possible; blades off, bodies lowered, adaptions in the name of speed have been made and the speed they get up is impressive.
The Taranaki Club held a display at Stratford Speedway last month, showcasing the sport and promoting this event. There are also Drift Go-Karts in action again this year at the school adding to the entertainment. With the supplier of Drift Go-Karts holding a stall at the event there is the opportunity to find out more about them. With gala activities and rides to entertain the whole family, the event isn't just for motorsport enthusiasts. Food and refreshments will be on sale throughout. This event is not just for the motor sport enthusiasts though, there are gala activities and rides to entertain the whole family along with food and refreshments for sale.
Contact Kat McNab on 027 352 0881 for more information. Racing starts at 10am, with the event running until 3pm on Saturday, March 21. Gold coin donation for spectator entry.
