Team USA luger Emily Sweeney was knocked out of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games following a terrifying crash in the final heat.
Sweeney lost control at curve 12 of the Alpensia Sliding Centre track before falling off her sled and crashing against the sides.
Associated Press reported that Sweeney, who was competing in her first Winter Olympics, was quickly attended to by medical personal.
Spectators and viewers expressed their concern via social media as many feared the US athlete had hit her head and neck.
But Sweeney flashed a quick smile to reassure her fans as she walked along the track to the Olympic Village clinic for further examination.
"I know I caught a good amount of air going in to (turn) 12, and I just couldn't stop it," Sweeney told NBC after the accident.
"There's a lot of pressures in these big curves, and unfortunately I was not taking them correctly, so it was pretty rough."
"I'm going to go get an X-ray on my back after this, but I wanted to have the last word."
"Thanks for all the support, guys. Yeah, it's a bummer, for sure, and I know I'm better than that, but here we are. It happens."

Doctors reported Sweeney had only suffered "bumps and bruises".
However, despite avoiding serious injury, Sweeney was knocked out of the Games.
