Tennis: Sampras out of US Open

Pete Sampras plans to withdraw from the US Open, opting not to defend his record 14th major tennis title.

The 14-time grand slam champion's last competitive match was the final of last year's US Open, where he beat rival Andre Agassi.

Sampras, 32, plans to retire soon.
