The New Zealand boys tennis team finished in a tie for 11th-12th with Pakistan in the world junior championships in Sri Lanka after their playoff match was called off because of bad weather.
In their pool game the Kiwis beat the Pakistanis 2-0, with Thiem Nguyen winning 6-1 5-7 6-2 after Marcus Daniel being declared the winner when his opponent retired with injury. The doubles match wasn't played.
The playoff, however, was cancelled as heavy rain flooded the venue.
India beat Australian 2-0 to win the title and Korea beat China 2-1 for third place.
