World tennis No 1 Gustavo Kuerten suffered his second big setback in five days when he lost in the first round of the Brazilian Open to unseeded compatriot Flavio Sarreta yesterday.
The top-seeded Brazilian, who was knocked out of the quarter-finals of the US Open last week by Yevgeny Kafelnikov, lost 6-4, 2-6, 4-6 to Sarreta at Costa do Suaipe, Bahia.
