Tennis: Gers to quarterfinals at Melbourne tournament

New Zealand player Ilke Gers has moved into the quarter finals of the Mackay International tennis tournament in Melbourne.

Gers, ranked 409 in the world, beat Australian Melissa Dowse (282) 6-7 6-1 6-2 to reach the final eight in the $US25,000 ($61,000) tournament.
