TAB launches multi bet sports punting

The TAB is launching a new form of sports betting today, enabling punters to choose from a variety of events and combine them on a single bet.

Multi bet allows punters to choose from a minimum of two to a maximum of seven fixed-odds wagers and the bets can be placed at TAB outlets, by using a telephone account or through the internet.

That could either be seven different sports, or different games from one sport, such as rugby's NPC.

For the punter to become a winner all seven picks must succeed.

"Punters have wanted an option like that because when the odds multiply together it can give higher winnings compared with bets made separately at the same odds," said the TAB's head bookmaker, Pete Young.
