Soccer: Zidane, MVP for Champions League

France's Zinedine Zidane, whose spectacular goal clinched Real Madrid's ninth European Cup when they beat Bayer Leverkusen in May, was named the most valuable player in the Champions League for last season's soccer performances.

Real Madrid swept four of the six awards, with Roberto Carlos named the best defender, Raul the best forward for the third successive year, Zidane the best player and Vicente del Bosque the best coach.Bayern Munich keeper Oliver Kahn and team-mate, midfielder Michael Ballack were the other winners.
