Soccer: Anelka out of favour with Liverpool

French international striker Nicolas Anelka will not be joining Liverpool on a permanent deal, the English premier league soccer club said yesterday.

Anelka, who scored five times in 22 appearances for the Anfield club, joined Liverpool on loan after the club sold former captain Robbie Fowler to Leeds United.

A permanent move to Liverpool had looked likely for Anelka after his French club, Paris St Germain club, said the clubs had reached an agreement last week.

He had a £12 million ($37 million) price tag slapped on him by the French club.
