Lomu in Sydney but not to watch All Blacks

Two days after his former All Black team-mates left for the World Cup in huge fanfare, Jonah Lomu also made his way to Australia.

The celebrated winger made the trip to Sydney yesterday to appear on television with satirical sports commentators Roy and HG.

His manager Phil Kingsley-Jones said that for Lomu, who starred in the last two World Cups, the leadup to this year's event was "a very emotional time".

He was left out of the squad while he battles kidney disease and undergoes dialysis treatment.

Lomu was "concentrating on getting himself right".

"Obviously he wanted to be there, but he can't be. He wants the All Blacks to win."

Lomu planned to be back in Auckland to watch on television the All Blacks' clash with Italy tonight.
