Rugby: Feek recovering from deep vein thrombosis

Canterbury and All Black prop Greg Feek has become the latest sportsman to be hit by deep vein thrombosis after a long-haul flight.

Feek, 26, had a blood clot in a calf after the All Blacks returned from their end-of-season tour in December. Deep vein thrombosis is a potentially fatal condition caused by blood clots in the legs which can form during long-haul flights.

Feek finally stopped taking anti-coagulant medication on Tuesday but cannot play for the Crusaders in tomorrow's pre-season game against the Reds in Greymouth. He has been cleared to resume full contact training next week.
