Tickle and Viennetta starred at Matamata yesterday as they prepared for Hastings on Saturday.

Galloping 15 metres out on a soft course proper, Highview Stakes candidate Viennetta proved much too good for possible race rival Kapsdan over the concluding stages of 1000m in 1:04.9, the final 600 in 37.7. Viennetta will
be ridden by Sydney jockey Glen Boss in the fillies' feature.

Tickle, who will run in the open handicap, appeared to have trained on well since her last-start Hastings win when she left 1200m behind in 1:19.8, the last 600 in 38.4. She and stablemate Sheka will be ridden by Australian jockey Rhys McLeod.

Highview Stakes bound fillies Iflooxcouldkill, Sheka, Darcybee, Clean Sweep and Eloa also worked well. Sheka had the early use of the grass when she worked with Sandalwood over 1000m in 1:04.9, the 600 in 37.6.

Later in the session Eloa and Clean Sweep recorded 1:05.8 and 40.5 over 1000m, while Iflooxcouldkill and Bez Bazara took 1:04.6 and 38.3. Darcybee and Vaalu ran 1000m in 1:06.8, the last 600 in 40.2.

Macdonald's looked ready for a repeat of her last-start Pukekohe win when she worked with Honour Dance over 1000m in 1:05.9, the 600 in 38.5. Another Pukekohe runner, Rhythm Method, galloped a sound 1200m with Kerry O'Reilly in 1:20.2, the 600 in 39.2.

Stoneybridge Stakes candidate King Keitel and Bazelle covered the same distance in 1:19.8, the 600 in 39.8, while Heez Leica clocked 1:22.8 and 39.9. Bhandara and Arniston took 1:06.2 for 1000m, the 600 in 38.6.

Spring Season left 1000m behind in 1:08.2, the 600 in 39.5, while Milcape and Bellamarju took 1:07.8 and 39. Southern Fortune and Glory Hero did well late in the session to cover 1200m in 1:22.2, the final 600 in 38.2.

On the sand which was easy, Clifton Prince looked ready for Hastings with a smart 1000m gallop with Brave Admiral in 1:02.2, the 600 in 37.2. Hamish covered 1200m in 1:26.3, the 600 in 38.9.

Omnia and Shallow shaped up over 1000m in 1:04.8, the 600 in 38.8, while The Big Whoppado and Poker Face clocked 1:03.4 and 37.2. Cool Talk took 1:22.4 for 1200m, the 600 in 37.6.

Stablemates Sedecrem, Mount Street and Senorita Ivory looked ready to do battle in Hawkes Bay on Saturday when they worked on the extreme outside of a heavy No 1 grass at Takanini yesterday.

Sedecrem and Mount Street went about 1200m, timed for the last 1000 in 1:6.5 and 600 in 40. Neither would have been happy in the conditions.

Senorita Ivory covered 1000m in 1:7.4, the last 39.4. She continues to improve.
