New Zealand punters have picked up $15,000 they shouldn't have.
The problem arose from the New Zealand TAB declaring a wrong result on Monday on an Australian race from Kyneton in Victoria.
It was declared that third place, in race two for New Zealand punters, went to No 8 Elegant Rhapsody. It
was subsequently found the third horse was No 9 Front The Judge.
The TAB supplies results to newspapers, via the New Zealand Press Association, and as a consequence the wrong result was carried in newspapers on Tuesday.
TAB racing manager Michael Dore said a total of $15,000 was paid in trifecta and place bets on the wrong result.
Telephone accounts were corrected on Tuesday, and those who had taken cash bets for the correct result could make a claim to the TAB.
Results of overseas races are declared by staff at TAB headquarters in Wellington and Dore said the error came down to "concentration - a straight human error."
The dividends declared for the wrongly-placed Elegant Rhapsody had been $7.20 for a place and trifecta $615.
The new dividends for Front The Judge are $3.55 for a place and the trifecta $289.60.
